Portraiture is the art of marking life's milestones: births, childhood, graduations, pregnancy, engagements, weddings, and anniversaries. As a photographer, I feel humbled and privileged that so many individuals have chosen me to be a part of these precious moments.

Photographers differ on what it means to capture these moments.  For some, it's a matter of capturing the appearance of someone at that moment.  For others its about making you look better than you really look.  Some take the time capsule approach and use props to explain the interests of the person.  For me, it's about bringing out you in the photograph - the you that so many others in your life have come to know and love.  Your portrait should not only be a great photo of you, but should also say something about who you are at your core.

That's why I don't do cookie-cutter poses or rely on standard props to create your portrait.  I photograph on location away from the lights, fake backdrops, and foreign props that can cause unease. I throw out the old ideas of number of poses. locations, or outfit changes and leave only time as a constraint.  We chat and we laugh; we smile and we snap away.  In the end, we've captured you.
